About the role

The Special Education Generalist Self-Contained position at DICKENS, D. L. DUSTY ES is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students based on their unique needs and abilities.
• Collaborate with other special education teachers, general education teachers, and school staff to support student learning and development.
• Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge of special education best practices.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field from an accredited institution.
• A current teaching license in Special Education.
• At least two years of successful teaching experience in a special education setting.
• Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, emotional disturbances, or other significant disabilities.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and adapt teaching methods to meet individual student needs.
• Knowledge of state and federal special education laws and regulations.

Skills

• Proficiency in using assistive technology to support student learning.
• Experience with data collection and analysis tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $55,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule
