About the role

Special Education Generalist – Self-Contained classroom.

Responsibilities

• Deliver instruction aligned with the Nevada Academic Content Standards (NVACS) and the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs for each assigned student.
• Assess student progress through formal and informal measures; adjust instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure student success.
• Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

Requirements

• Must possess, or be able to acquire by time of appointment, a teaching license issued by the Nevada Department of Education.
• Must hold or be eligible for a Special Education endorsement on the Nevada teaching license.
• Complete three-year work history in the “Experience and Credentials” section of the application, including periods of unemployment, schooling, and volunteer work.
• Attach all required documents at the time of application to be considered.
