About the role

This is a self-contained special-education position for primary-grade students (Kindergarten–2nd grade) on the autism spectrum.

Responsibilities

• Deliver individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP goals in a self-contained classroom setting.
• Implement evidence-based strategies for students with autism, including structured teaching, visual supports, and behavior-intervention plans.
• Collaborate with general-education teachers, related-service providers, paraprofessionals, and families to ensure continuity of services.
• Conduct ongoing assessments, collect data, and adjust instructional methods to meet student needs.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive learning environment.
• Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional-development activities.

Requirements

• Valid Nevada Department of Education license with an endorsement in Special Education (Autism or Generalist).
• Experience working with primary-grade students with autism in a self-contained or similar setting.
• Knowledge of autism-spectrum disorders, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
• Ability to lift and physically assist students as needed.
