2026-2027 - Athletic Coach - 5th Boys Basketball Coach

About the role

Position: Athletic Coach – 6th Boy's Basketball at Jefferson Elementary School. This is a winter sport coaching role.

Responsibilities

• Instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training.
• Instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self‑discipline, self‑confidence, and pride of accomplishment.
• Upgrade knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
• Work with students interested in sports, providing practice support and advice to help the team succeed against opponents.
• Teach and enforce rules and regulations.
• Advise, coordinate, and support the staff of high school assistant coaches and middle school coaches in conjunction with the athletic director and respective principals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency.
• Must hold or have the ability to obtain an Athletic Coaching License (7‑12) from the New Mexico Public Education Department.
• Must complete the Fundamentals of Coaching online exam offered through the New Mexico Activities Association.
• Internal applicants must attach a signed Permission to Coach Form to the application.

Qualifications

• Ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
• Previous successful coaching experience in the assigned sport (major sports).
• Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sport.
• Commitment to continue examining new theories and procedures pertinent to the field.
• Serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through instructions and actions.

Pay

$2,500.00 (fixed stipend)

Schedule

Work includes evenings and weekends.
