About the role

Our Academic Interventionists Impact Students’ Lives By Assessing students throughout the school and identifying students at risk.
Developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
Providing small group and individual instruction based on assessment data.
Implementing academic interventions using research-based methodology in reading and math.
Communicating with school personnel and parents regarding reading and/or math level and progress.
Documenting interventions and progress of each child to share in team and RTI meetings.
Quickly implementing feedback and goal-setting into daily practice.
Participating in the life of the school, including student activities and events.
Maintaining a classroom culture conducive to student achievement.
Embodying, advocating, and operationalizing the mission, vision, and direction of the school.
Taking on other tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assess students throughout the school and identify students at risk.

  • Provide small group and individual instruction based on assessment data.
  • Implement academic interventions using research-based methodology in reading and math.
  • Communicate with school personnel and parents regarding reading and/or math level and progress.

  • Quickly implement feedback and goal-setting into daily practice.
  • Participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events.

Requirements

  • A BA or BS Degree.
  • Be willing to obtain Louisiana Teacher Certification in Special Education (or equivalent certification in another state).

Qualifications

  • An outstanding record of leading academic achievement.
  • Be willing to inspire students and colleagues.

Skills

  • Ability to assess students and identify those at risk.
  • Proficiency in developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials.
  • Experience in providing small group and individual instruction based on assessment data.
  • Knowledge of implementing academic interventions using research-based methodology in reading and math.
  • Effective communication skills with school personnel and parents.
  • Ability to document interventions and progress of each child.
  • Quick implementation of feedback and goal-setting into daily practice.
  • Ability to participate in the life of the school, including student activities and events.
  • Ability to maintain a classroom culture conducive to student achievement.
  • Ability to embody, advocate, and operationalize the mission, vision, and direction of the school.
