About the role

The St. Jane Frances de Chantal School in Easton is seeking a dedicated Fifth Grade Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position involves providing academic subject instruction, evaluating student performances, maintaining confidentiality, and fostering a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare lesson plans, activities, projects, and assignments for the 2026-2027 school year.
  • Evaluate student performances in class and on tests and provide feedback.
  • Maintain fair, accurate, and timely grading policies, procedures, and attendance.
  • Communicate with students and parents on a regular basis about schedules, assignments, events, and individual student needs.
  • Attend all required in-service training meetings and workshops.
  • Participate in faculty meetings.
  • Be involved in the school community by attending school events, activities, fundraisers, etc.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Education or equivalent.
  • Must have or be able to obtain an Elementary Grades 5-6 add-on certification or a Grades 4-8 certification from the state of PA.
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old).
  • Pastorally and professionally meet the standards of the Catholic Church.
  • Effective communication skills with parents, students, and co-workers.
  • Understanding of child development and supervision of employees.
  • Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
  • Able to maintain a high level of energy and respond calmly to overwhelming situations.
  • Able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and integrity.

  • Positive and enthusiastic communication skills.
  • Understanding of supervision and communication skills with adult employees and volunteers.
  • Able to establish and maintain appropriate student supervision.

Skills

  • Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum, current educational research, and technological tools.
  • Ability to address student learning styles and achieve meaningful and measurable outcomes.
  • Ability to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge.
  • Ability to organize daily class time and develop weekly lessons.
  • Ability to provide appropriate, detailed instructions/plans for a substitute teacher.
  • Ability to evaluate each student's progress and maintain appropriate records.
  • Ability to maintain an orderly classroom stocked with appropriate supplies.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $55,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a schedule of 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., with some after-school meetings and activities requiring teachers to stay until 3:30 or 4 p.m.
