1st Shift Thermal/Coating Lead

About the role

Mechanical Dynamics & Analysis (MD&A), a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), is a world-class supplier of power generation maintenance services, repairs, and parts for the utility and industrial sectors. The San Antonio service center has an immediate opening for an on-site Industrial Gas Turbines Division (IGT) 1st Shift Thermal/Coating Lead. This role directs, trains, and guides efficient day-to-day coating strategies for the service center.

Responsibilities

• Direct and guide the essential job functions of shift employees while performing similar production duties under limited supervision.
• Assist with operations, control, and monitoring of thermal spray and related processes/equipment as required by procedures on the shop router, work instructions, and notes.
• Review job folders to verify the area of the part to be masked, cleaned, blasted, and coated; confirm all pre-coating requirements are completed per the job router.
• Follow in-process inspection procedures to verify current operations meet customer and technical plan requirements.
• Demonstrate competency in the use of basic precision measuring tools.
• Record and sign off on all applicable data defined in the job router.
• Collaborate with the shift supervisor and escalate any unusual problems or irregularities.
• Review routers to ensure all applicable processes have required employee/operator sign-offs completed.
• Practice and promote all EHS initiatives, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and good housekeeping.
• Perform other related tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3–5 years of experience in thermal spray operations with the ability to lead, direct, and motivate employees.
• Availability to work days, nights, weekends, holidays, and mandatory overtime as business requires.
• Able to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Must meet all pre-employment requirements, including criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Pay

$21.50 – $29.30 per hour (D.O.E.) + Bonus
