Essential Functions

  • Knowledgeable in Company’s Food Safety and Quality Programs – Serve as main point of contact.
  • Ensures product safety, regulatory compliance, and adherence to company standards as outlined in the Quality Assurance Manual, Laboratory Manual, and Company directives.
  • Conduct standardized tests to ensure compliance with customer specifications and FDA regulations, including brix, pH, bostwick, percentage of total acid, and vitamin C.
  • Analyze own and other’s test results to provide feedback, direction, and approval/disapproval of in-process goods.
  • Analyze test results of products at equilibrium to determine further testing, required actions, or final approval.
  • Maintain Finished Good Retention Program including quarterly audits.
  • Comprehend lab-related testing procedures.
  • Perform sensory evaluation on raw materials and finished goods.
  • Work collaboratively with production staff to ensure product is manufactured according to standards.
  • Maintain hold log of non-conforming materials, packaging, and finished goods; including but not limited to putting non-conforming materials on hold, assisting with review and investigations of NC hold items.
  • Perform line audits and quality inspections throughout their shift.
  • Serve as escalation point of contact for any non-conformance or concerns to QA Supervisor and Manager and relay information cross-departmentally.
  • Adhere to GMP policies.
  • Accurately record and interpret data.
  • Assist and review, as needed or assigned, with facility verification programs.
  • Collect and test ATP Swabs, Allergen Swabs, and other environmental swabs to verify Plant Sanitation Programs.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.

Qualifications

  • BS in Food Science or related field preferred, equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 0-3 years of experience in a relevant food science role.
  • Experience in a food manufacturing facility strongly preferred.
  • Reads, speaks, and writes English.
  • Basic addition, subtraction proficiency.
  • Understands temperature and weight measures.
