1st shift, Maintenance Tech I, 10HR South M&R - South Plant

Responsibilities

• Support production by minimizing equipment downtime, providing prompt response times.
• Complete planned preventative maintenance and planned production equipment repairs.
• Troubleshoot and repair issues with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Perform minor tasks on electrical components such as sensors, fuses, breakers, etc.
• Follow safety policies and practices while maintaining Wabash’s Leadership Principles and Values.
• Work on projects both individually and with a cross-functional team.
• Perform other duties as needed or required.

Schedule

The Maintenance Technician I position works full shifts, which may be 8, 10, or 12 hours per day, depending on the plant’s needs. The work schedule includes mandatory overtime and weekends. Assignments in the Duraplate division may require 12-hour shifts and coverage across all possible scheduling options.

Requirements

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Basic reading, writing, and verbal skills.
• Prior experience with mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical (24DC, 120/277/480AC) systems.
• Methodical problem-solving to identify root causes of breakdowns.
• Ability to work on projects both individually and cross-functionally.
• Capability to rapidly respond, adapt to changing and nonstandard situations, while remaining thorough and safety-conscious.
• Good mechanical aptitude, knowledge of tools (power and hand), and ability to make detailed measurements using instruments such as tape measures, micrometers, and dial calipers.
• Experience using SAP and SAP PM (Plant Maintenance) is a plus.
• 1-3 years’ experience in any related field.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Knowledge of ladder logic preferred.
• Knowledge of 480-volt AC/DC motor controls preferred.

Working Conditions

The work environment may expose employees to fumes, airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Noise levels can be very loud, and temperatures may vary. All employees on the production floor must wear the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to stand, walk, lean, push, climb, sit, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and operate tools or controls for the length of an entire shift.
• Full range of motion in arms and hands is necessary.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees.
• Frequently lift and/or carry objects up to 50 pounds.
• Work in small spaces and at heights or from a ladder as required.
• Push or pull up to 100 pounds intermittently.
• Perform tasks requiring twisting, turning, and working in uncomfortable positions.
• Ability to see and work in low-light areas.
• Operate and use a tricycle as needed.
