1st Shift Foundry Floater Trainee (Dept 500)

Milwaukee Valve Company – Prairie Du Sac, WI – Department 500

Starting hourly wage: $22.48. Eligible for a $1,000 sign-on bonus: $500 after successful completion of the orientation period and $500 after one year of employment.

Schedule

Regularly scheduled hours: 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Overtime may be required, including adjustments of 1-2 hours at the beginning or end of the shift and/or Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• As a Coresetter: Proper placement of various size cores into the proper molds as they pass on the conveyor.
• As a Grinder: Rough grinding of castings, operating trim presses, and sorting castings into the proper bins.
• As a Coremaker: Cleaning, inspecting, counting, and boxing various cores as instructed by supervisor.
• In the Melt department: Physically loading induction furnaces, maintaining charts for metal types and number of heats per shift, transferring metal to auto-pour, controlling melt, and pouring molds.
• Follow all quality and safety standards; maintain cleanliness of work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio, and percent; draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Physical Demands: Stand or walk 100% of shift; frequent bending, twisting, carrying, and lifting of up to 30 pounds unassisted; hoist operation; fast-paced environment; good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Work Environment: Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, extreme heat, and very loud noise levels.
