1st Shift - Assistant - R&D

About the Role

The Research Assistant performs a variety of general labor tasks within the Research and Development department under direct supervision, maintaining research standards, ensuring trial integrity, and upholding a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Label trial materials upon arrival.
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
• Stick cuttings by taking a small piece of a plant and placing it into soil to encourage root development.
• Sow seeds by placing them into soil with appropriate moisture, temperature, and light.
• Space materials to ensure proper growth.
• Relocate plants to appropriate locations within the greenhouse.
• Plant and maintain outdoor trial gardens.
• Care for and manage outdoor trial gardens.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Effective communication skills with team members and across multiple departments.
• Proven ability to multitask and collaborate as a team player.
• Capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and understanding the English language.
• Ability to work in all outdoor elements, including dust and allergens.
• Long-term ability for walking, standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting.
• Ability to operate machinery safely, including driving a scooter.
• Ability to consistently lift up to 30 pounds unassisted.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Office experience, primarily Excel.

Job Setting & Physical Demands

This position is primarily outdoors but may require indoor office work for administrative duties, including computer use and standard office equipment. The role involves regular physical activity such as walking, standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting.
