About the role

The Role Are you passionate about food and ready to take your culinary skills to the next level? We're looking for a vibrant, dedicated Line Cook to join our team in our fine dining restaurant, 1891. In this exciting role, you'll prepare delicious dishes, maintain a spotless workstation, and contribute to a positive dining experience for our valued members. This is a full-time, fully on-site position at our club in Portland, OR.

Responsibilities

  • Craft Delicious, Fine Dining Dishes: Prepare food products consistently according to our established recipes, showcasing your culinary creativity.
  • Mise en Place Mastery: Set up your station and prep daily ingredients like a pro—organization is key!
  • Keep It Clean: Maintain a tidy and orderly workspace that meets health department regulations.
  • Safety First: Follow all safety policies and procedures, reporting any hazards or injuries. Your safety and the safety of your team matter.
  • Promote Excellence: Embrace our MAC code of conduct, delivering top-notch service to every member.
  • Reliable Attendance: We need your commitment—regular and predictable attendance is essential.
  • Other Fun Tasks: Be ready to take on various duties as assigned, keeping your day exciting!

Requirements

  • Experience: Two years of progressive kitchen experience; a culinary arts degree is a plus.
  • Certifications: A valid food-handler’s permit.
  • Kitchen Skills: Culinary techniques, knife handling, and sanitation.
  • Equipment Savvy: Proficient in using all kitchen equipment and a keen understanding of sanitation practices.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to ensure smooth teamwork.
  • Positive Attitude: A friendly demeanor and the ability to build strong relationships with your coworkers.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the job including, but not limited to, standing for long shifts 100% of the time in high temperature environments and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Must be willing and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
