About the role
The Senior Accountant supports the daily functions of the Accounting Department by performing complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting records, and supporting timely financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
- Supports the daily functions of the Accounting Department by performing complex accounting activities, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of accounting records, and supporting timely financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
- Prepares and analyzes financial reports, including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Oversees the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assists in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Collaborates with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data is provided for decision-making processes.
- Monitors and analyzes financial trends and prepares recommendations for improvements.
- Manages and maintains the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
- Prepares and reviews journal entries, adjusting entries, and closing entries.
- Reviews and audits financial transactions for accuracy and completeness.
- Prepares and analyzes financial forecasts and budgets.
- Supervises and trains junior accountants as needed.
Requirements
- Associate or Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or directly related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years experience in accounting, auditing, budgeting, and /or preparation and analysis and performance measurement reporting work.
- Advanced user of Microsoft Excel (pivot table, VLOOKUP, nested formulas).
Qualifications
- Work experience directly supervising people.
- Experience in accounting with a community center or related industry.
- Five years of experience in accounting, financial auditing, and/or budgeting.
- Experience in government fund accounting or government cost accounting.
- Experience in a complex, multi-entity general ledger system.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Pay
Salary Amount: $$90,001.00 - $96,241.00/year
Schedule
Hourly Salary Range: $43.27 – $46.27 Differential Detail: $1.00/hour – previous experience in a similar role$1.00/hour – Career ladder specialty$1.00/hour – Tenure with BTCS
