About the role
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) is responsible for advocating and supporting adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities by empowering them to be as active in their lives as they can. Support needs include, but are not limited to, household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing, etc., so that they may always look and feel their best.
The DSP may be asked to assist individuals with medical appointments, banking, community participation, outings, medication administration, following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans and goals, and adhering to medical guidelines. DSP workers must safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain certifications while handling job duties in compliance with agency policies and DDS regulations.
Paid training includes New Employee Orientation, CPR/First Aid, PABC, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration Program (MAP), as well as program and person-specific training at the individuals’ home.
Responsibilities
- Assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in daily living activities (e.g., household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, personal hygiene).
- Support individuals in attending medical appointments, banking, and community activities.
- Administer medications and follow Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.
- Safely evacuate individuals in emergencies.
- Maintain required certifications and comply with agency policies and DDS regulations.
- Work creatively and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.
Requirements
- Must be 21+ with a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and fluent English (speaking, reading, writing).
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities in community participation.
- Proven record of conscientious, responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history).
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double shifts.

Pay
$17.50–$19.00 per hour.
Schedule
- Full-time: 40 hours per week.
- Sun: 3:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Mon: 12:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Tues: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
- Fri: 3:00 PM–10:00 PM
- Sat: 4:00 PM–11:00 PM
