About the role

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) advocates and supports adults 22 and over with intellectual and developmental disabilities, empowering them to be as active in their lives as possible. Support includes household maintenance, meal preparation, shopping, personal care (bathing, toileting, dressing, teeth brushing), medical appointments, banking, community integration, outings, medication administration, and following Behavior Support Plans, Individual Support Plans, and medical guidelines.

The DSP must safely evacuate individuals from the home in an emergency and maintain all required certifications. Duties must be performed in compliance with Agency policies and DDS regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assist individuals with daily living activities (household maintenance, meal prep, shopping, personal hygiene)
  • Support community participation and outings
  • Administer medications and follow medical guidelines
  • Implement Behavior Support Plans and Individual Support Plans
  • Transport individuals to medical appointments and banking
  • Safely evacuate individuals in emergencies
  • Maintain certifications and comply with Agency and DDS policies

Training

  • Paid New Employee Orientation
  • Paid CPR/First Aid certification
  • Safety Care training
  • Defensive Driving training
  • Medication Administration Program (MAP)
  • Program and person-specific training at individuals’ homes

Requirements

  • 18+ years old with reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Commitment to supporting individuals with disabilities in community participation
  • Proven record of responsible behavior (work, volunteer, or school history)
  • Ability to work as a creative, engaged, and dedicated team member
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, overnights, or double-shifts

$14.89 - $15.00 per hour (paid training provided)

Schedule

  • Sunday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Monday: 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM
  • Tuesday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Wednesday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • Friday: 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM
