Essential Job Functions

  • Identifies the needs of individual students through continuous assessment.
  • Plans and implements instruction based on identified student needs.
  • Writes instructional plans and uses a variety of methods and materials to deliver instruction.
  • Maintains a classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Applies learning theories to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Evaluates and reports student progress.
  • Assists with parent conferences and participates in professional development activities.
  • Supervises educational assistants, manages students, communicates with colleagues, and assesses building-level needs.
  • Fulfills all assigned responsibilities and fulfills other related duties as directed.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily indoors in a classroom setting, with occasional outdoor supervision, school activities, or field trips.
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, reaching, and frequent movement throughout the instructional space.
  • May involve lifting, carrying, or moving instructional materials or equipment.
  • Exposure to moderate noise levels and a range of student behaviors.
  • Required to attend meetings, school events, conferences, professional responsibilities, and activities outside the regular instructional day.

  • Current concepts, methods, and procedures for curriculum development and implementation.
  • Laws, rules, policies, and trends regarding instruction.
  • Evaluation techniques.
  • Essential learning skills and common curriculum goals.
  • Human development and learning.

  • Communication techniques.
  • Computer technology.
  • School district policies and procedures.

Education and Experience

  • Completion of course work satisfying the requirement for issuance of a valid Oregon Teaching License with appropriate endorsement in the designated assignment.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach students to be successful learners through student teaching, internship, or temporary/regular teaching experience.
