About the Role

Direct and supervise the planning, layout, installation, testing, and repair of wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, motors, equipment, and control systems in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Plan and coordinate the efforts of craft workers under your supervision and motivate them to accomplish the work safely, correctly, and efficiently. Must have all necessary tools (see Electrician tool list).

Responsibilities

• Perform all principal duties and accountabilities of craft workers under your supervision.
• Lead and support all safety-related processes and programs to achieve zero injuries.
• Understand scheduling, material control, and unit man-hour performance reporting.
• Familiarize yourself with the Field Progress Management System (FPMS).
• Create and execute a one-week schedule and set crew goals based on project unit rates.
• Review crew timecards for correct hours and phase coding.
• Report all accidents and near misses; participate in investigations as needed.
• Lead, complete, and sign off on daily pre-job safety planning.
• Identify and mitigate safety hazards; ensure crew members participate in pre-job safety planning.
• Understand and respond to safety hazards and warning devices (e.g., back-up alarms, warning tags).
• Follow lockout/tagout procedures and attend site-specific training.
• Use effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers and fractions.
• Address employee suggestions, complaints, problems, and safety concerns; consult with supervisor or HR as needed.
• Coordinate and communicate work with other crafts and co-workers; manage other crafts when requested.
• Provide on-the-job training to subordinates and teach safety practices and procedures.
• Plan tasks to safely and efficiently carry out assigned work.
• Ensure adequate supply of tools, materials, and equipment; communicate needs to supervisor.
• Understand the scope of work and related project plans, specifications, and schedule.
• Conduct toolbox meetings to communicate safety concerns, work scope, plans, and schedules.
• Participate in daily/weekly quantity report collection.
• Ensure quality work meeting plans, specifications, and industry standards.
• Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with contract requirements.
• Identify and correct construction procedure deficiencies.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment to determine hazards or need for adjustments.
• Inspect field conditions, identify problems, and implement cost-saving measures.
• Ensure construction equipment is correctly operated, maintained, and inspected daily.
• Complete performance reviews of craft workers according to Craft Performance Assessment (CPA) Guidelines.
• Ensure subordinates are qualified to perform their work at their respective levels.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience working as an electrician or similar craft, or a combination of experience and training.
• A strong working knowledge of the electrical craft.
• Highly qualified journeyman electrician with working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
• Necessary licenses for the jurisdiction in which the work is performed.
• Must set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for crew members.
• Must have all necessary tools (see Electrician tool list).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, including background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience as a supervisor.
• One or more of the following certifications:
  • State Electrical License
  • NCCER Electrical
  • NCCER Electrical and Instrumentation Technician
  • NCCER Pipeline Electrical and Instrumentation Technician
  • NCCER Project Supervision
  • NCCER Project Management

Work Environment / Physical Demands

• Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, and move in confined or cluttered spaces and uneven areas.
• Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with job duties.
• Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Repetitive movement and climbing (steel framework, stairs, ladders, scaffolds).
• Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and outdoor conditions.
• Work in cramped spaces and awkward positions.
• Work in very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures; exposure to inclement weather (dust, wind, snow, rain).
• Work in extremely bright or inadequate lighting conditions.
• Exposure to distracting or uncomfortable sounds and noise levels.
• Work around hazardous equipment.
• This position is considered safety-sensitive.
