Youth Worker - Summer Only Multiple Positions

HANAC, Inc. is a New York City-based social services organization founded in 1972 to serve vulnerable populations. The Youth Worker position is for multiple positions, available only during the summer months from July 1 to August 14, 2026, with mandatory training in June.

Work Schedule

Program Dates: July 1 to August 14, 2026
- Monday–Thursday: 11:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Fridays: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensure the health, safety and well-being of the participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
• Help the Group Leaders supervise, participate in and administer recreational activities for youth, and families.
• Provide a safe and fun environment for participants in the After-School Program.
• Aid in the implementation of a variety of age-appropriate and theme related activities.
• Assist with the distribution and collection of parent surveys.
• Work cooperatively with peers, professional staff, and other departments.
• Maintain equipment, storage facilities and inventory.
• Work closely with the program administration to ensure best practices/program quality.
• Consult with the Program Director when difficult or unfamiliar situations arise.
• Participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
• Maintain a close relationship and report to the Program Director and the Assistant Director for delegated tasks and future assignments.
• Complete all job-related tasks and use program time effectively during scheduled working hours.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
