HANAC, Inc. is a New York City-based social services organization founded in 1972 to serve vulnerable populations. The Youth Worker position is for multiple positions, available only during the summer months from July 1 to August 14, 2026, with mandatory training in June.
Work Schedule
Program Dates: July 1 to August 14, 2026
- Monday–Thursday: 11:30 AM – 6:00 PM
- Fridays: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Ensure the health, safety and well-being of the participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
- Help the Group Leaders supervise, participate in and administer recreational activities for youth, and families.
- Provide a safe and fun environment for participants in the After-School Program.
- Aid in the implementation of a variety of age-appropriate and theme related activities.
- Assist with the distribution and collection of parent surveys.
- Work cooperatively with peers, professional staff, and other departments.
- Maintain equipment, storage facilities and inventory.
- Work closely with the program administration to ensure best practices/program quality.
- Consult with the Program Director when difficult or unfamiliar situations arise.
- Participate in all training sessions, designated meetings and special events.
- Maintain a close relationship and report to the Program Director and the Assistant Director for delegated tasks and future assignments.
- Complete all job-related tasks and use program time effectively during scheduled working hours.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting is preferred.
