Position Summary
The Youth Transportation Specialist is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of youth participants between designated pick-up locations and the VOICES program site. This position requires strong judgment, professional communication skills, and the ability to maintain appropriate structure and expectations while transporting youth.
Key Responsibilities
- Safe Youth Transportation
- Operate an 11- or 15-passenger VOICES vehicle safely and professionally
- Follow assigned morning and afternoon routes
- Ensure all passengers are seated and secure during transport
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations
- Vehicle & Safety Oversight
- Conduct pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections daily
- Maintain accurate transportation and mileage logs
- Immediately report mechanical issues, accidents, or safety concerns
- Maintain vehicle cleanliness and organization
- Youth Engagement & Communication
- Maintain professional and respectful interactions with youth
- Reinforce VOICES expectations during transport
- Communicate attendance concerns, delays, or incidents to site leadership
- Support consistent program engagement through reliable service
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Pass criminal background check
- Minimum of 1 year experience in youth or school transportation
- Experience operating 11- or 15-passenger vehicles
- Strong reliability, punctuality, and professional communication skills
- Able to work independently and exercise sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in structured youth programs
- Experience in school transportation, youth services, or community programs
- Familiarity with transporting court-involved or system impacted youth
