Core Expectations
- PROGRAM EXECUTION
- Develop and execute activities and programs in the Sport & Recreation department.
- Supervise children/participants, focusing on their safety, needs, and enrichment.
- Provide positive member service and adhere to all policies and rules of the South Shore YMCA.
- STAFF ENGAGEMENT AND TEAMWORK
- Work with fellow YMCA staff members and treat them with respect.
- Communicate with supervisor all staff related issues and concerns.
- Attend staff meetings and maintain proper certifications.
- MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Provide welcoming member service.
- Interact with members in a friendly, engaging, and professional manner.
- Solve inquiries and problems.
- Create a supportive community environment.
- Recruit and engage new families.
- Connect families to the YMCA’s cause.
- Educate members on all policies and procedures of the YMCA.
- Ensure compliance with the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies.
- FACILITY MANAGEMENT
- Aid in providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained area.
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and report any deficiencies.
- VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
- Support volunteers and their daily functions.
- COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
- Assist in YMCA fund-raising activities/events.
- Engage in collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Must be at least 16 years of age.
- Experience working with children is preferred.
- Knowledge/experience with volleyball is preferred.
- Volleyball Certifications are preferred.
- CPR/AED & First Aid Certifications are preferred.
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, members, community leaders, and other agencies is critical.
- Effective teaching skills, the ability to deliver excellent member service, and a high level of enthusiasm are required.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated poise and professionalism when addressing concerns and interacting with people are required.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, swim, talk, and hear.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
