About the role

Spend your workdays outdoors maintaining Durango's athletic fields and sports venues. Your efforts—from striping soccer lines to grooming turf—directly shape game day experiences for athletes and their families. As part of our team, your ideas contribute to citywide improvements, and your work ties into measurable goals within a collaborative, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Paint and stripe sports fields to ensure clear boundaries and professional layouts for youth games.
  • Operate and maintain small powered and non-powered equipment, including striping machines and field grooming tools.
  • Clean and maintain public facilities, restrooms, and grounds, including emptying trash cans and performing general upkeep.
  • Assist full-time Parks and Recreation staff with special projects and park maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to public inquiries and provide helpful, friendly customer service to park visitors.
  • Adhere strictly to safe work practices and procedures while handling tools and equipment.

Requirements

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certification preferred, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Comfort with lifting at least fifty pounds and performing physical activities like walking and standing for long periods.
  • Ability to work independently, follow instructions carefully, and pay close attention to detail.
  • Maintain a positive, professional attitude when interacting with visitors, teams, and coworkers.
