Responsibilities
- Receives and completes daily work orders as directed.
- Performs maintenance duties on buildings, grounds, and equipment to ensure safety and appearance.
- Conducts routine cleaning of buildings, floors, windows, restrooms, carpets, trash removal, grounds, sidewalks, and trash pick-up.
- Operates tools and equipment such as pole saws, table saws, band saws, drills, string trimmers, and landscape blowers safely and effectively.
- Ensures all work is conducted safely and timely, adhering to cleanliness and equipment utilization standards.
- Maintains athletic fields through grass trimming, fertilization, and precise field marking for soccer, baseball, and other sports according to regulations.
- Maintains baseball diamonds for safety and playability.
- Utilizes the Rockford Park District's HRIS system for HR, payroll, and accurate timekeeping.
- Assists with the delivery of supplies to various locations.
- Becomes familiar with the Safety Manual and performs routine safety checks on buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Safely operates park district vehicles and machinery.
- Files safety reports as required and maintains knowledge of general and department-specific safety rules.
- Inspects work areas for compliance with safe work practices and rules.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Valid Illinois driver’s license.
- Ability to follow directions from the Maintenance Supervisor and problem-solve in various situations.
- Strong communication skills, including expressive, written, and receptive abilities.
- CPR and First Aid Certification (can be obtained through the Rockford Park District).
- Reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements
- Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Ability to perform physically intensive tasks, including climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions.
- Exposure to dirt, hazardous chemicals (training provided), noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and equipment hazards.
- Regular outdoor work with exposure to sun, heat, cold, rain, wind, and other weather elements.
Wage: $17/hour
