Youth Program Coordinator

Duties and responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and directs consistently available activities for the youth program including ʻohana engagement events, classes, workshops, ʻāina/māla workdays, and educational outreach prescribed by various grants' scope of services, Executive Director, and/or community needs assessments.
  • Designs, implements, and facilitates intersession programming during DOE school breaks to be conducted both on and off campus in collaboration with KEY community partners throughout the Koʻolau region.
  • Transports youth between sites during intersession outings.
  • Utilizes current, and implements new, modes of communication to effectively promote programming, recruit participants, and establish partnership connections to broaden the reach of Hoʻopilina Youth Program, as well as organizational events, throughout the service area.
  • Maintains up-to-date electronic calendars of programming schedules and accurate contact lists of youth, families, and program relevant organizations.
  • Implements appropriate tools for data collection, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of program deliverables while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Documents all budget expenditures, performs all program-applicable fiscal procedures, and prepares reports as requested.
  • Attends ʻāina-based community workdays with aligned partner organizations to support partnership development, professional growth, and grounded integration of cultural concepts into KEY Project programming.
  • Creates and develops new learning materials for KEY Project youth programming based on professional development opportunities, cultural workshops, trainings, personal expertise, and certifications, as needed for successful program delivery.
  • Oversees staff, contractors, and volunteers in the delivery of services targeted at fulfilling the goals of the program and needs of the participants.
  • Collaborates with KEY leadership in program evaluation of effectiveness and feasibility of scope of work performed throughout the year.
  • Performs general administrative and clerical duties to include, but not limited to, photocopying, computer and manual filing, mail distribution, and general internal and external communications such as answering phones, emails, and assisting walk-in clientele.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Education, Childhood Development or related disciplines
  • Minimum 3 years direct experience with school aged youth
  • Minimum 2 years experience with program and lesson development
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ʻike Hawaiʻi and proficiency in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi
  • Clean driving record
  • Office management and administrative experience, with proficiency in Google Applications, MS Office, email, and social media platforms
  • Excellent time management, planning, and problem solving skills
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Canva
  • Valid Hawaiʻi driver's license, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1 year supervisory experience that includes training and supervising staff
  • 1 year of budget management experience
  • Event planning and coordination experience
  • Experience working with diverse, multicultural communities
  • Kuleana to cultural practice
  • General cultural knowledge of Waiheʻe and surrounding ahupuaʻa
  • Valid CPR/First Aid Certification

Compensation

Starting Pay: $45K - $48K per year.
