Primary Responsibilities
- Ensures sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Reports any incidents/accidents according to incident reporting procedures and protocols, within designated timelines as outlined in the reporting procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent client information.
- Meets and provides mentoring support and services with clients in-person a minimum of every 3 months for mentoring adoptive minor youth and for mentoring adoptive families.
- Mentors must maintain monthly contact with youth and family. Phone, virtual and in-person meetings will vary based on family/youth’s needs.
- Mentors must make an initial phone contact with client within 3 business days of being assigned a new case.
- Mentor/support prospective and adoptive parents and adoptive youth.
- Mentoring services to adoptive parents would include providing insight into the adoption process, sharing personal experience, and assistance throughout the adoption process.
- Mentoring adoptive children would include, offering a stable source of support to children, using them through the adoption process and assisting child in working through internal struggles in a n effort for child to secure permanency with an adoptive family.
- Completes monthly contact notes that document all phone, face to face, email, and text communications with families.
- Attends monthly supervision meetings with APSS supervisor.
Qualifications
- Education and Experience: APSS Mentor is a Paraprofessional position with no minimum degree requirement, but applicant must possess the expertise and experience necessary to provide direct client services as required.
- Ability to work collaboratively with members of interdisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated awareness, sensitivity and competence in dealing with culturally, socio-economically diverse client population.
- Working knowledge of computer programs, preferably accessing email and using Microsoft Word.
- Bilingual Spanish (preferable not required).
- Has reliable transportation.
- Lived experience related to adoption (adoptive parent or adoptee).

Pay
The hourly wage range for this role is $24.00 - $25.00.
