About the Role
The Youth and Family Director oversees the overall management and operation of youth and family programs, including Child Watch, Before & After School Care, and Summer Day Camp. This position is responsible for budget development and control, recruitment and training of staff and volunteers, programming, equipment maintenance, quality checks, enforcing safety standards and other policies and procedures, ensuring high standards of program quality as well as member and participant retention rate.
This is a full-time, exempt position.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and administers budgets for the department, ensuring the budgeted net is met by year-end.
- Develops and implements marketing strategies to positively impact attendance and registration.
- Assembles a schedule of year-round child care and youth leadership programs.
- Aligns program operations to meet all legal and regulatory requirements.
- Prepares and implements marketing plans to ensure annual growth.
- Submits information for program brochures according to the published schedule.
- Available to work evenings and weekends as needed due to seasonal programming.
- Assists with the implementation of special events as a member of the YMCA program staff.
- Maintains and inventories all supplies, including T-shirts, for Youth & Family operations.
- Secures and monitors transportation for field trip activities.
- Works cooperatively with other department heads, volunteers, committees, and departments.
- Serves on and recruits key staff for various ad-hoc committees.
- Attends and participates in all staff meetings and trainings.
- Provides ongoing training for staff and volunteers to enhance their capabilities.
- Shares the YMCA story and programs with community groups when requested.
- Recruits, supervises, and trains quality staff to implement programs.
- Cultivates staff development for growth and success.
- Provides hands-on training for coaches.
- Maintains emotional control and composure in challenging conditions.
- Pays attention to detail, completeness, and consistency in job functions.
- Influences staff and members through positive, enthusiastic performance.
- Demonstrates commitment to the Association’s Strategic Plan and initiatives.
- Incorporates and trains staff in character development values (respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty).
- Engages in an active and healthy lifestyle to promote personal well-being.
- Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment and advocates for the YMCA in the community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; minimum of two years’ successful experience in a supervisory position preferred.
- Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR effectively.
- Certified in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid (training provided by the Y if needed).
- Ability to handle complaints or demanding individuals professionally.
- Current CPR for the professional.
- Willingness to obtain YMCA certifications.

Pay
Annual salary range is $45,500–$48,500 depending on experience.
