About the role

The Membership Program Director is responsible for the organization, delivery, and quality of YMCA membership experiences. This position works independently under the general direction of the District Executive Director and oversees program development, staff hiring and supervision, training, budget control, operational management, and scheduling in the membership department for the YMCA branch, in accordance with the philosophy of the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and administers budgets for the department, ensuring the budgeted net is met by year-end.
  • Develops and implements marketing strategies to positively impact attendance and registration.
  • Purchases all necessary equipment as budgeted and approved to support the success of the YMCA and department.
  • Prepares and implements marketing plans, with Communications Department approval, to ensure annual growth.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed due to seasonal programming or special events.
  • Assists with the implementation of special events as a member of the YMCA program staff.
  • Maintains and inventories all equipment.
  • Recruits volunteers for the council and plays an active role in the Community Support Campaign.
  • Works cooperatively with other department heads, volunteers, committees, and departments.
  • Serves on and recruits key staff for Ad-Hoc committees to support overall YMCA success.
  • Attends and participates in all staff meetings and trainings, encouraging staff to do the same.
  • Provides ongoing training for staff and volunteers to enhance their capabilities.
  • Shares the YMCA story and programs with various community groups when requested.
  • Recruits, supervises, and trains quality staff to ensure a top-notch member experience.
  • Cultivates staff development for growth and success.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail, completeness, and consistency in job functions.
  • Instills confidence through dependability, meeting deadlines, promptness, and regular attendance.
  • Influences staff and members by performing job functions in a positive, enthusiastic manner.
  • Demonstrates commitment to the Association’s Strategic Plan and initiatives.
  • Incorporates and trains staff in the YMCA’s character development values: respect, responsibility, caring, and honesty.
  • Sets an example by engaging in an active and healthy lifestyle to promote personal well-being.
  • Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment and advocates for the YMCA in the community.
  • Develops meaningful and sustainable relationships with members, donors, and volunteers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or determined necessary, with potential changes based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Certification in PR/CPR, AED, O2, and First Aid (provided by the YMCA if needed).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience in customer service preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR effectively.
  • Willingness to obtain YMCA certifications.
  • Knowledge of YMCA programs, program development, and management practices.
  • Experience working with adults, children/youth, and volunteers.
  • Creativity and initiative in program development.
  • Proven ability to lead staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work under occasional stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proven team player.
  • Ability to interpret, adopt, and apply guidelines/procedures.

Pay

$45,000–$48,000 per year, depending on experience.
