Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitating one-hour life skills sessions for K-8 student groups, guiding them through public speaking, teamwork, focus, and feedback skills using structured exercises and narrative techniques
  • Conducting 1:1 and small-group coaching sessions focused on motivation, where you establish goals alongside students, monitor their academic app performance, and step in when progress stalls
  • Tailoring your coaching approach across diverse age groups: strategies effective for kindergartners differ significantly from methods that challenge 13-year-olds
  • Facilitating Test2Pass evaluations to verify students have genuinely achieved mastery of the life skills curriculum
  • Leveraging student profiles, performance metrics, and coachbot data to maintain precise awareness of each student's status prior to every interaction

  • 3+ years of direct experience working with students in grades K-8
  • Demonstrated success motivating or coaching K-8 students to achieve goals exceeding baseline standards, including at least one concrete example you can describe in detail (the objective, your approach, the result)
  • Willingness to work on-site in Austin, TX (relocation assistance provided)
  • Comfort operating in a non-traditional educational setting centered on motivation and engagement rather than traditional instruction
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Familiarity with behavioral motivation approaches such as goal-setting methodologies, reward systems, or accountability frameworks

About Alpha

Alexander is a private institution that has eliminated conventional teaching methods. Academic learning happens through adaptive software that allows students to advance at their own speed, often progressing up to 2x faster than typical grade-level peers. Software alone, however, cannot cultivate resilience. It cannot prepare a timid 7-year-old to present confidently in front of an audience. That responsibility falls to you.

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Delivering academic instruction. Mathematics, literacy, and science content is delivered through adaptive software rather than traditional teaching.
  • Creating original lesson plans. You will utilize an existing life skills curriculum and implementation guide.
  • Handling traditional paperwork such as grading assignments, maintaining report cards, or preparing students for standardized exams. Mastery is demonstrated through assessments you facilitate, not administrative tasks.
  • Remaining stationary at a desk. This position requires physical presence, active movement, and direct student interaction throughout the day.
