Youth Development Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitating one-hour life competency workshops addressing public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback dynamics, modulating your delivery and engagement methods across Pre-K–8 developmental stages
- Conducting daily individual and small-group coaching sessions to examine each student's adaptive learning app performance (leveraging Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive them toward 100% weekly target completion
- Overseeing and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine life skill mastery rather than superficial participation
- Deploying focused interventions when students experience academic or engagement setbacks — diagnosing underlying issues and constructing remediation strategies
- Cultivating authentic connections with individual students so they develop sufficient trust to receive coaching through resistance, distraction, and confidence challenges
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Providing lectures or conventional academic instruction (core subject learning occurs through adaptive applications, independent of your direct teaching)
- Developing lesson plans or original curriculum content (Alpha supplies life skills frameworks; your responsibility is animating them through presence and storytelling)
- Handling parent communications or administrative functions (Campus Leads oversee these areas; your attention remains on student development)
- Handling homework assignments or facilitating standardized test preparation (these elements don't exist in this model)
- Operating independently (you function within a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who exchange feedback and maintain mutual accountability)
About the Role
Alpha operates outside traditional educational frameworks. Students complete a full academic day in approximately two hours using adaptive software. No classroom lectures. No physical textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: developing Pre-K through 8th grade students in essential life competencies including public speaking, concentration, and feedback exchange.
Responsibilities
- Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops enthusiasm for school, achieves mastery in critical life competencies, and completes 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in any discipline.
- 3+ years of direct experience working with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities).
- Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, including at least one concrete example you can articulate (the objective, your specific actions, and the result achieved).
- Receptiveness to a coaching-exclusive model where core academic instruction is delivered entirely through the learning platform. Your function centers on motivation and guidance, not subject-matter instruction.
- Daily application of generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude).
- Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance provided).
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship.
Nice-to-Have Requirements
- Background in youth sports coaching, camp direction, or after-school program management where you held direct accountability for motivating children toward defined objectives.
- History of significant personal achievement (academic distinctions, competitive athletics, or leadership positions requiring sustained high performance).
- Innate storytelling capability: you can maintain Pre-K–8 student engagement for an hour without volume escalation.
- Success in connecting with disengaged or resistant students and transforming them into active contributors.
- Experience supporting students who receive special education services.
