Youth Development Specialist, Alpha - $100,000/year USD

About the Role

Do you see a student reach 99% and think it's good enough? Or do you refuse to settle because you know the last 1% matters most? The kindest thing you can do for a student who stops at 99% is insist they finish. If that expectation feels too rigid, this position won't be the right fit. Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full day's worth of academics in roughly two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No textbooks. Your role covers what technology cannot: developing life skills in Pre-K through 8th grade students—public speaking, concentration, feedback exchange. You'll spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured playbooks and narrative techniques. The other half involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their adaptive learning progress via Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward 100% completion of weekly objectives. Mastery is demonstrated through Test2Pass assessments, not participation metrics.

This is rigorous, selective work. Your first year focuses on mastering the playbook: facilitating workshops, conducting motivation sessions, administering mastery assessments, and demonstrating you can hold every student accountable to 100% goal completion. Excel at this and you create a pathway to Lead Guide. You'll need genuine warmth, commanding presence, and uncompromising standards.

Responsibilities

What You Will Be Doing

• Facilitating one-hour life skills workshops covering public speaking, concentration, teamwork, and feedback exchange—flexing your delivery style and energy for Pre-K through 8th grade age ranges
• Conducting daily individual and small-group motivation check-ins where you analyze student progress in adaptive learning platforms (via Coachbot analytics), establish goals, and drive students to complete 100% of weekly objectives
• Administering and assessing Test2Pass evaluations to verify genuine mastery of each life skill, beyond simple participation
• Deploying focused interventions when students lag academically or in engagement—diagnosing underlying issues and creating tailored recovery strategies
• Cultivating authentic connections with every student so they trust you to coach them through resistance, distraction, and moments of self-doubt

What You Won’t Be Doing

• Teaching traditional academic content or delivering lectures (core subjects are learned through adaptive platforms, not direct instruction from you)
• Creating original lesson plans or curriculum materials (Alpha supplies structured life skills playbooks; your role is to execute them with energy and narrative skill)
• Handling parent communications or administrative tasks (Campus Leads manage those areas; you concentrate on student coaching)
• Assigning or grading homework, or preparing students for standardized tests (these don't exist in this model)
• Operating independently without support (you're embedded in a campus team alongside Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who provide feedback and mutual accountability)

Requirements

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in any discipline
• 3+ years of direct experience working with Pre-K–8 students (in teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program leadership capacities)
• Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, athletic, or extracurricular objectives, with at least one concrete example you can articulate (including the goal, your actions, and the result)
• Comfort with a coaching-focused model where all core academic instruction is delivered by the learning platform. Your function is motivation and guidance, not subject-matter teaching
• Regular, daily use of generative AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
• Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Springfield, MA campus (relocation assistance provided)
• Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

• Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or after-school programming where you held direct accountability for motivating children toward measurable goals
• History of personal high achievement (academic distinctions, competitive sports, or leadership positions demanding sustained excellence)
• Innate storytelling capability: you can command the attention of Pre-K–8 students for an hour without needing to raise your voice
• Proven ability to re-engage disengaged or resistant students and transform them into active, motivated participants
• Experience supporting students who receive special education services
