Youth Counselor ORR (Bilingual Spanish)
About the role
HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program is dedicated to providing 38 unaccompanied minors, ages 5-12, with a supportive, nurturing environment through transitional foster homes, daily education Monday - Friday, and supportive wrap-around services in the Sunset Park section of New York City. Our program is rooted in ensuring that service delivery is trauma informed, culturally appropriate, and tailored to the needs of each child while maintaining all program requirements of ORR.
Primary Responsibilities And Essential Functions Of Position
- Supervision, support, and direction to children in the Unaccompanied Minor program while promoting growth and development
- Completes all required logs, forms, and reports
- Participates in meetings as scheduled
- Accompanies groups or individual children for outside activities, transfers, or appointments as scheduled
Qualifications
- Training/Experience in youth social services required
- Must be highly organized and able to work independently
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with team
- Strong interest in working with immigrant young persons
- Computer knowledge and writing skills
- Fluent and Bilingual in Spanish and English required
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid NYS Driver’s License required
- 2 years of similar experience
