Youth Counselor Bilingual Preferred
About the role
The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years. We strive to empower children and families to achieve optimal health and well-being. We are currently seeking Youth Counselors to work in our Unaccompanied Children Program.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct care, supervision, and support to children and adolescents residing in the agency's Children's Program.
- Implement individualized crisis intervention plans.
- Engage youth in therapeutic activities.
- Foster a supportive, nurturing atmosphere to promote emotional regulation and recovery.
- Act as a mentor and model appropriate self-regulation skills for the youth.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent degree.
- Valid New York State Driver's License for more than three years, with a good driving record as determined by the Agency.
- Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience working with children, including volunteer, professional, or internship roles for which references can be provided.
- Proficient in computer and documentation skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent degree, valid New York State Driver's License, 1 year of verifiable experience working with children, proficient in computer and documentation skills.
- PREFERRED qualifications: Bilingual in English and Spanish, related education and experience, strong personal interest in a variety of life activities, related skills, training, or certificates.

- Sunday-Wednesday: 12p-10p
- Thursday-Saturday: OFF
- Wednesday-Saturday: 12p-10p
- Sunday-Tuesday: OFF
