About the role
Join our team as a Youth Coach in the Youth Shelter! In this overnight role, you’ll be a beacon of hope and stability for youth aged 18-24, helping them achieve their goals and heal from past trauma.
Responsibilities
- Support youth in achieving their goals outlined in their service plans through daily routines and activities.
- Take youth on job and housing searches, and to volunteer opportunities.
- Administer resident medication and maintain accurate records.
- Communicate and coordinate with other staff members, including updating on the shift and status of all residents, discussing medication, UA, and critical information, and participating in bi-weekly individual supervision and weekly staff meetings.
- Contribute to the training of new staff and respite personnel as needed.
- Participate in the growth and improvement of the supported housing program.
Requirements
- A high school degree with a bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least one year of experience working with at-risk youth in a residential setting or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of adolescent development, including mental health and substance abuse issues, trauma, attachment issues, complex family dynamics, developmental challenges, and educational issues.
- Experience in life skills work, such as meal preparation, budgeting, cleaning, personal hygiene, job readiness, and employment skills.
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and set limits.
- A commitment to diversity and adherence to agency code of ethics and policies.
- A valid driver's license preferred.
Qualifications
- Passion for youth development and/or experience working with at-risk youth.
Skills
- Effective communication and coordination with staff and residents.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Benefits
- Hourly wage of $21.63 plus a $4.00 shift differential.
