Yoga Instructor - Lincoln
About the role
Under the direction of the Group Fitness Director/Coordinator/Administrator and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Yoga Instructor is responsible for instructing safe, effective and fun group exercise (land or water), as well as enhancing the quality and growth of the program and retention of the participants of the Group Fitness programs.
Responsibilities
- Design and prepare class routines that meet all the necessary components and safe guidelines in accordance with current accepted practices of exercise physiology.
- Allow for pre/post class member engagement to build member relations.
- Record class attendance and maintain a minimum of 50% target attendance with continual growth.
- Teach a minimum of 1 class per week (1/month) including but not limited to at least one sub per month, and appropriately securing a substitute instructor when needed.
- Start and end class on time.
- Maintain equipment and keep group exercise area clean.
- Participate in Community Outreach campaign.
- Be aware of all branch emergency procedures.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Participate in continuing education training specific to individual goals and branch objectives.
- Support the mission, vision and direction of the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
- Create a safe, inclusive environment by following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to teach classes at a variety of days/times.
- Ability to work irregular work hours, including nights and weekends on occasion.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit while maintaining alertness for extended periods of time.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds in weight.
- Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
- Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
- Ability to view/enter data for long periods of time.
- Ability to “spot” participants.
- Must complete all mandatory YMCA of Catawba Valley trainings by the required date.
Requirements
- 3 years (300 hours) or more of teaching experience.
- Proof of current Yoga Alliance Certification (or equivalent).
- Passion for helping people achieve their fitness goals.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Reliable, self-motivated and self-starter.
- Outgoing personality with a natural ability to build positive and trusting relationships.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to promote programs and services.
- Enthusiastic and supportive attitude.
- Demonstrates a professional demeanor and genuine commitment to providing quality service.
- Willing to work flexible work hours based on client’s availability.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel).

Pay
USD $20.00 - USD $30.00 /Hr.
