YMS Step Team Assistant Coach

About the role

The YMS Step Team Assistant Coach will supervise students during practices and competitions. The Coach will supervise students in planning and executing events throughout the year. The Coach will assist the head coach in program operations.

Responsibilities

• Develops and teaches choreography for a variety of team performances
• Travel with team to competitions and events
• Develops ideas for theme, costumes, and makeup
• Manage music and light effects for competitions and performances
• Aid with attendance records for team practices and events
• Recruit student participants with a tryout in late spring/early fall to keep an active team
• Supervise the use of facilities during activities and events in the absence of head coach
• Confirm the security of the facilities in the absence of the head coach
• Ensure students have a way to get home and remain present until the last student is released
• Promote and publicize team events and fundraisers
• Maintain positive relationships with students and interact with students and adults respectfully
• Use appropriate channels to resolve concerns and problems
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient functioning of the team

Qualifications

• Organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision
• Show evidence of strong leadership and organizational skills

Skills

• Previous successful experience in sponsorship/mentoring preferred
• Substantial knowledge in the area of student support, as well as familiarity with student discipline and safety protocols

Benefits

Salary Range: Assistant Coach Level 7 $3,600- $6,032 based on experience
