YMCA ESPORTS WORKER

About the role

The position involves providing hands-on coaching and mentoring to players in various esports titles, developing strategies to improve their performance, and organizing friendly competitions and skill-building activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide coaching and mentoring to players in esports titles like Super Smash Bros., Rocket League, and Mario Cart, etc.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance players' teamwork, gaming skills, strategy, and communication.
• Promote positive sportsmanship, inclusion, and respectful behavior among participants.
• Organize and manage competitive tournaments or league play.
• Maintain cleanliness and organize gaming and program spaces.
• Plan and host esports-themed parties and events, ensuring a fun and engaging experience for all attendees.
• Manage the party timeline and adapt to the needs of the group, providing customer service and ensuring all guests have an enjoyable experience.
• Aid in event setup, cleanup, and coordination with other staff.
• Create a lively atmosphere through positive engagement, encouraging participation, and promoting a fun environment.
• Cook with parents, guardians, or event organizers to ensure all requirements are met and expectations are exceeded.
• Report any equipment issues or incidents to supervisors promptly.
• Assist with program planning, scheduling, and attendance tracking.

Requirements

• In-depth knowledge of major esports titles, including mechanics, strategy, and competitive scenes.
• Experience coaching players or leading esports teams is preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with players of all ages and skill levels.
• Ability to manage group dynamics and lead events with enthusiasm and energy.
• Customer service experience, especially in event hosting, is a plus.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
• Passion for gaming and esports and a desire to foster a positive gaming community.
• CPR/First Aid Certification within 6 months.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergencies.

• Valid Driver's License
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be at least 18 years old
