About the role
Texas Building Supply, a division of USLBM, serves the major markets in Texas with five building material yards and one window distribution facility across Austin, Houston, Dallas-Ft. Worth, and San Antonio. The Yard/Warehouse Rep I receives, stocks, ships, orders, and counts inventory items. This is an entry-level position responsible for the safe operation of a forklift to stock all lumber and building materials, performing duties within established work and safety procedures.
Pay Range: $15.00 - $16.00/hour
Responsibilities
- Operate safely and participate in a positive work environment.
- Assist warehouse associates and direct supervisor in maintaining an organized work environment, including emptying trash receptacles and keeping all bays and staging areas clean and organized.
- Receive incoming products, commodities, and materials.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Count and record receipt of materials.
- Stock all material received in appropriate bins or storage locations.
- Assist inventory control in counting and organizing warehouse materials.
- Operate forklift with foot and hand controls.
- Use forklift to build outgoing orders or load completed orders onto delivery equipment.
- Operate facility equipment as necessary (e.g., bander, power tools, various hand tools).
- Monitor inventory as required by location management.
- Retain awareness of the work environment to produce error-free and damage-free results.
- May operate a company vehicle to transport materials, perform deliveries, transfer inventory between locations, or complete other business-related tasks after completing required training and authorization, in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record may be required based on location and job responsibilities.
Skills
- Ability to do basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
- Ability/willingness to learn to read a tape measure.
- Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills.
- Ability to deal constructively with conflict and recognize potential problems.
- Proficiency with or ability to learn current technologies (e.g., Smartphone, Inventory Control Systems, and other necessary business applications).
Additional Opportunities
Based on experience, there may be opportunities to advance to Yard/Warehouse Rep II or Yard/Warehouse Lead.
