Yard Truck Driver - Class A - Penske Logistics

Starting pay: $24.00/hour ($84,000 projected annual W2) plus $1.00/hour shift differential. Monthly Safety Bonus opportunity. Local, home daily position with no-touch freight, drop & hook operations, and dedicated yard work.

About the role

You will drive late-model Penske Truck Leasing trucks with best-in-class specs designed for comfort and safety. Vehicles are equipped with inward and outward-facing in-cab cameras, automatic transmissions, and yard trucks with 48'/53' trailers.

Responsibilities

• Move trailers in and out of dock as directed by management
• Couple and uncouple trailers
• Chock trailers as they are spotted for loading, unloading, and pulling from doors
• Perform drop and hook/live load movements of manufacturing components while prioritizing safety and efficiency
• Maintain communication with dispatch and customer teams while contributing to a positive work environment
• Perform yard moves and trailer movements supporting manufacturing operations (approximately 40 moves per day)

Schedule

• Monday through Friday with two days off per week
• Occasional Saturday or Sunday work may be required based on customer production needs
• Shift flexibility of +/- 2 hours may be required based on customer requirements

Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL required
• Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
• Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card
• 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years, or 2 years in the past 5 years
• 3-year DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
• English language proficiency (required by federal law for compliance with 49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2))
• Ability to work the required schedule and at the specified location
• Complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history), and drug screening

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to see and hear; specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting required
• Frequent use of hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg
• Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area
