Immediate opportunity for a full-time Class A Yard Driver at $24.00 per hour. Paid weekly with a driver referral bonus program up to $5,000 per referral.

About the role

You will drive late-model Penske Truck Leasing trucks with best-in-class specs designed for comfort and safety, equipped with inward and outward facing in-cab cameras to ensure safety for all.

Responsibilities

  • Move trailers to and from dock doors as directed by management.
  • Safely couple and uncouple tractor-trailers.
  • Properly chock trailers when spotting them for loading and unloading, and remove chocks when pulling trailers from dock doors.
  • Operate yard equipment and perform trailer movements throughout the facility.
  • Support warehouse operations by operating a forklift as needed.
  • Work in both the yard and warehouse environments, including forklift operation and trailer spotting activities.

Schedule

  • Friday through Sunday work schedule.
  • Three-day work week, 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL required.
  • Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence.
  • Currently hold, or ability to obtain, a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card.
  • 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years, or 2 years in the past 5 years.
  • 3 years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents.
  • Follow all federal and/or state laws, regulations, and agency rules.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
  • English language proficiency as required by federal law (49 C.F.R. 391.11(b)(2)).
  • Work the required schedule and location.
  • Complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (including past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening.

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation or designated as safety sensitive by the company. Associates must work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner, accepting responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others.

Physical Requirements

  • The ability to see and hear is required.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequent movement, standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Frequent use of hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs/23 kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs/45 kg.
  • Legally operate a motor vehicle and safely and frequently enter/exit the vehicle as well as the rear cargo area.
