About the Role
The Yard Supervisor supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in maintaining the Rental yard and its processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain inventory control in accordance with the organization’s current operating procedures.
- Interpret, communicate, and implement company/departmental policies and procedures to workers; enforce all city, state, federal, and company safety policies, procedures, and/or regulations.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Recommend short-term/long-term goals and business strategies in collaboration with management.
- Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase the efficiency of department or work crew.
- Analyze and resolve work problems; or assist workers in solving work problems.
- Maintain time and production records.
- Perform activities of workers supervised.
- Encourage positive team culture and customer excellence for both internal and external customers.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervise employees in the Rental Department.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, training, planning, coordinating, assigning, directing, and supervising work.
- Appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or four or more years’ machine maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Familiar with shipping and receiving processes.
- Basic PC skills.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding and make common sense decisions.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record. CDL preferred.
- Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
Working Conditions
- Required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
- Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places.
- Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- Required travel up to 10%.
- This position is considered safety-sensitive.
