Yard Jockey/Material Handler Hybrid

About the role

This position is responsible for operating all energized and non-energized forklift and palletizing equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, palletizing robots, and shrink wrap machines. The role ensures efficient equipment operation, accurate paperwork, and safe movement of trailers in and out of docking areas (non-CDL).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, and count product.
  • Pull and prepare product for shipment, ensuring the exact number and type of product is loaded per load sheets to meet customer service standards.
  • Efficiently move product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers.
  • Operate and ensure the safe and efficient use of company motorized equipment.
  • Ensure inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage; report any quality issues.
  • Complete forklift inspection prior to shift with accurate documentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and ensure smooth shift transitions through effective communication.
  • Pick and load outbound trucks; unload and put away inbound trucks.
  • Monitor raw packaging material and supplies to support production efficiently.
  • Support additional area warehouses as required.
  • Safely move trailers in and out of docking areas as directed.
  • Perform proper pre-operation inspections and follow company guidelines for safe vehicle and trailer operation.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately and submit it promptly.
  • Report unsafe conditions in docking and parking areas.
  • Remove snow from trailers and other equipment during inclement weather.
  • Check trailer temperatures as needed.
  • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating effectively with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety

  • Follow all plant/warehouse safety rules.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to the supervisor.

Quality

  • Adhere to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.
  • Follow SOPs for truck inspection during loading and unloading.
  • Adhere to and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
  • Ensure accurate documentation.

Requirements

  • Work weekends and holidays as needed/scheduled.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Team player with a good past work history and attendance.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Able to climb on and off forklift regularly.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Ensure package integrity and communication.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Pass drug screen and background check.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Warehouse experience.
  • 1-3 years of related experience in a food-grade facility.
  • 1-3 years of RF scanner experience.
  • 1-3 years of stand-up forklift experience.
  • 1-3 years of jockey experience (non-CDL).
  • Ability to crank landing gear on trailers.

Pay

Starting rate is $23.00/hour.
