Yard Foreman

About the role

This position will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day shipping, receiving, operations, and inventory control.

Responsibilities

• Assigning daily tasks
• Conducting periodic safety checks (PPE and ensuring policies are being followed)
• Cleaning, repairing, and ensuring all equipment are in working condition and ready
• Submitting documentation for incident investigations, near miss reporting, hazard identification and implementation of corrective actions
• Inspecting loading operations for outgoing delivery to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, load limits, and safety regulations
• Preparing and reconciling bills of lading and packing slips
• Operating, maintaining, and training on safe forklift operation
• Directing the loading, unloading, and movement of materials on the premises
• Providing on-the-job training to new yard employees including product knowledge of items stored in yard, housekeeping, and safety procedures
• Understanding, supporting, implementing, and following lockout/tag out procedures
• Ensuring outside areas are kept neat and clean
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• 2 years’ experience
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Safety and service oriented
• Team player
• May be asked to operate a company vehicle
• Basic understanding of machine operating and safety protocols
• Comfortable working in a fast pace environment
• Previous experience operating a forklift is a must

Work Environment

Typically works in a moderately noisy environment with routine exposure to the elements, including working outdoors and in a non-climate controlled building. Repetitive motions are also part of the job.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
