Yard Driver Non-CDL

About the role

PET Dairy has an immediate job opening for a well-versed Yard Driver Non-CDL to perform any combination of operating all equipment and perform all roles as needed including driving tractor trailer with capacity of more than three tons and usually with more than six wheels to transport materials to and from specified destinations. As well as applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads, operating shuttles to move trailers from building to buildings, staging area, and from various loading dock doors, documenting all trailer moves on daily move sheets, and performing safety check inspections of trailers according to DOT regulations. Must be able to perform duties of this role in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor trailers with capacity of more than three tons and usually with more than six wheels to transport materials to and from specified destinations
• Apply knowledge of commercial driving regulations and area roads
• Operate shuttles to move trailers between buildings, staging areas, and various loading dock doors
• Document all trailer moves on daily move sheets
• Perform safety check inspections of trailers according to DOT regulations
• Perform duties in all weather conditions

Requirements

• DOT certifiable and a good MVR
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimal
• Effective verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks
• Must be able to stand, walk and climb into and out of tractor trailers virtually the entire shift
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to work in outdoor conditions (year round) with moderate noise
• Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and holidays
• Must have a clean driving record

Schedule

• 1st Shift / Mon - Sat / Rotate 3am & 7am start - Finish / Rotating day off / Off Sundays

Pay

• $21.00 per hour
