Yard Driver - C shift (Days) - Hanceville, AL Truck Stop

Starting pay: $21.85/hr, C Shift (Days) at Tyson Foods Truck Stop in Hanceville, AL.

About the role

This position coordinates trailer and tanker traffic in the receiving yard, maintains logs of product loads, and ensures a safe work environment while adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. Applicants will be considered for any Yard Driver opening.

Responsibilities

• Operate yard truck safely by following all safety procedures
• Move trailers from yard to door and door to yard
• Communicate respectfully with drivers
• Set reefer units at appropriate settings and check if they start
• Communicate with dispatcher and follow instructions
• Chock trailers and report fuel or oil leaks to maintenance
• Stagger breaks and maintain cleanliness of shuttle truck
• Perform pre-inspection for safety and mechanical defects on shuttle truck at the start of each shift
• Conduct lot checks as requested by management
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Operate front-end loader, man lift, or forklift (certification required)
• Use basic hand tools and perform basic mechanical and maintenance functions
• Maintain a clean work area using soap and high-pressure hose
• Complete required logs and communicate via two-way radio

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 pounds
• Shovel, climb stairs and ladders up to 60 feet
• Bend, stretch, reach, and work in extreme hot, cold, inclement weather, and odors
• Tolerate extreme cold and heat for 12 hours per day
• Bend at waist and knees repetitively for 12 hours per day
• Twist and turn for 12 hours per day
• Climb in and out of truck cab continually for 12 hours per day
• Walk extensively for 12 hours per day

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must have a valid driver’s license
• Must not have any DUI/DWI convictions within the last 12 months
• Must have 6 months of tractor-trailer driving experience within the last 2 years
• Must pass Tyson Yard/Lot Driver Assessment
• Must be able to read to complete required logs

Rehire Policy

Minimum waiting period of 180 days for rehire. No more than 3 prior employments at Tyson Foods.
