Yard Driver

About the role

The Yard Driver is responsible for moving trailers to and from the loading dock or staging area, maintaining the staging area, and reporting any equipment damage. The role involves constant communication with Oakley dispatch and the customer, as well as collaboration with the shipping and receiving department to move trailers as directed.

Responsibilities

• Locate and move trailers between the staging area, loading dock, and unloading area as assigned by the customer or Driver Manager.
• Perform safety inspections on yard equipment before moving trailers to ensure safe loading or unloading.
• Verify that all seal points on loaded trailers are intact and match the Bill of Lading.
• Ensure all shipment documents are in order and placed in the bill box for the road driver.
• Maintain service records for yard equipment, including checking fluid levels.
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety standards in the staging area, loading/unloading areas, and yard equipment.
