Yard Associate

About the role

Sunbelt Rentals, the fastest‑growing rental business in North America, is seeking a Porter / Yard Worker (Yard Associate). The Yard Associate stations and retrieves equipment on the location’s property, maintains a written maintenance schedule, may service equipment to meet specifications, and inspects equipment before and after rental to document any loss or damage.

Responsibilities

• Station and retrieve rental equipment throughout the site.
• Maintain a written maintenance schedule for all equipment.
• Service equipment as necessary to ensure it meets set specifications.
• Inspect equipment prior to and after rental, documenting any lost or damaged items.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as required day‑to‑day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with common construction and industrial tools preferred.
• Some experience or training in mechanical equipment repair preferred.

Skills

• Effective written and oral communication with customers.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
• General mechanical aptitude and safety focus.
• Bilingual ability (Spanish or other) may be required based on location.

Physical Demands

The role requires frequent bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, and lifting 50 pounds or more. Work may be performed indoors or outdoors as job conditions dictate.

Pay

Base Pay Range: $17.75 – $23.72 per hour. Starting rate may vary based on position, location, education, training, and/or experience.
