About the role
The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration, management, and leadership of the Yampa Valley Regional Transportation Authority (YVRTA). This position reports directly to the Board of Directors and is responsible for implementing policies, programs, and services that align with the strategic goals and mission of YVRTA.
Responsibilities
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for YVRTA.
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of transportation services.
- Develop and implement long-term plans, budgets, and financial strategies.
- Manage human resources, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
- Foster strong relationships with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as community stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and grant requirements.
- Represent YVRTA at public meetings, conferences, and community events.
- Prepare and present reports to the Board of Directors on operational and financial performance.
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants and partnerships.
- Oversee the maintenance and expansion of transportation infrastructure and services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive management experience in transportation, public administration, or a related field.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in budgeting, financial management, and grant administration.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations and policies.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with government agencies, community organizations, and the public.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and project management.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of successful leadership in a transportation or public-sector environment.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors or similar governing body.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and transportation management software.
