Xray Technologist

About the Role

The Xray Technologist is responsible for performing a variety of duties in the medical practice, including both clinical and administrative tasks. You will assist physicians with patient care, handle clerical and environmental responsibilities, and provide information to patients to help them benefit from clinical services. This role reports to a Supervisor, Clinic Administration.

Responsibilities

• Uses customer service principles to interact with patients and staff calmly and pleasantly.
• Performs patient care responsibilities, including: checking schedules, organizing patient flow, escorting patients, assisting with walking/dressing, specimen collection, exam preparation, collecting patient history, performing screenings, assisting with procedures, sharing patient information, relaying instructions, and answering calls.
• Performs clerical responsibilities, including: managing medical records, obtaining lab/X-ray reports, completing forms, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and updating electronic medical records.
• Performs environmental responsibilities, including: setting up equipment, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, maintaining infection control, ordering/storing supplies, and restocking rooms.
• Performs clinical medical assisting duties as allowed by state law, including: checking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, verifying prescriptions, managing biohazard waste, assisting with therapeutic modalities, performing lab procedures, and conducting CLIA-waived testing.
• Prepares patients for radiologic procedures and protects patients, self, and staff from radiation hazards.
• Performs X-rays following established procedures, including: setting up equipment, selecting ionizing factors, adjusting controls, positioning patients, and sending X-rays to medical staff.
• Maintains records, performs quality control checks, and complies with safety standards.
• Cleans, maintains, and makes minor adjustments to radiographic equipment.
• Communicates with clinical and clerical team members to support a patient-centered practice.

Qualifications

• Registration as a radiologic technologist R.T.(R) through the ARRT.
• Documented evidence of externship completed in a medical office or facility.
• Current CPR certification and up-to-date health records (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
• Continuing education to maintain active/clear license in good standing with the State of Florida and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

Preferred Qualifications

• X-ray experience in the medical environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of healthcare field, medical office protocols, and assisting tasks.
• Understanding of patient education needs and ability to share information effectively.
• Skill in positioning patients, identifying equipment problems, and following infection control/radiological safety procedures.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, demonstrate compassion, and work with electronic medical records (EMR).
• Physical ability to lift and position patients for X-ray procedures.

Additional Information

This role is considered patient-facing and is part of Humana's Tuberculosis (TB) screening program. If selected, you will be required to undergo TB screening.

Schedule

40 hours per week.

Pay

$53,100 - $72,500 per year.
