XRAY Technologist

Pay Range: $28.36 - $36.56 | Monday - Friday; 8:30am to 5:00pm

About the role

The X-Ray Technologist performs various types of diagnostic X-Ray procedures, adjusts X-Ray equipment settings, determines proper voltage/exposure, and positions patients. Performs specific procedures utilizing ionizing radiation and assists physicians in assigned examinations using contrast media and/or specific tomographic examinations.

Responsibilities

• Interfaces with patients to ascertain medical history and provides instructions/explanation of the procedure and/or exam to obtain the best possible image.
• Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent.
• Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
• Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high-quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
• Performs exams while attending to patient’s care before, during, and following the exam; notifies the appropriate party if patient’s condition changes at any time.
• Transfers images to other locations as needed.
• Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
• Maintains and regularly inspects equipment; immediately reports any quality concerns, equipment failures, or deficiencies.
• Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding any and all departmental concerns.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two plus years’ experience in X-Ray (preferred).
• Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, problem solver, and team player.
• Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately.
• Ability to excel in a very fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to continuously “exceed” company and customer expectations.
• Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program.
• Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
• Registry in Radiography (R).
• Current license from state medical board (if applicable).
• Current CPR certification.

Work Environment

This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation (minimized by Personal Protective Equipment), bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a medical office environment. Often requires work in cool, dimly lighted rooms.

• May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Frequently required to talk and hear.
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
