About the role

Performs various types of diagnostic X-Ray procedures, adjusts X-Ray equipment settings, determines proper voltage and exposure, and positions patients. Performs specific procedures utilizing ionizing radiation. Assists physicians in assigned examinations utilizing contrast media and/or specific tomographic examinations.

Responsibilities

  • Interfaces with patients to ascertain medical history and provides instructions and explanations of procedures/exams to obtain the best possible image.
  • Reviews patient charts for missed clinical information and/or consent.
  • Screens patients for surgical and other implants, contrast allergies, etc.
  • Obtains prior films/exams as needed and performs high-quality scans to submit to the Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Performs exams while attending to patient care before, during, and following the exam; notifies appropriate parties if the patient’s condition changes.
  • Transfers images to other locations as needed.
  • Coordinates scan protocols with Radiologist.
  • Maintains and regularly inspects equipment; immediately reports quality concerns, failures, or deficiencies.
  • Interfaces with Lead Technologist & Center/Area Manager regarding departmental concerns.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Two plus years’ experience in X-Ray (preferred).
  • Ability to educate patients on procedures being performed.
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated, problem solver, and team player.
  • Ability to navigate multiple computer screens and browsers quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong communication skills and professional demeanor.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Registered Technologist program.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • Registry in Radiography (R).
  • Current license from state medical board (if applicable).
  • Current CPR certification.

Work Environment

This job operates in an environmentally controlled outpatient clinical environment. Potential exposure to radiation (minimized by Personal Protective Equipment), bodily fluids, communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a medical office. Often requires work in cool, dimly lit rooms.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing duties, the employee may exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects. The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
