XR Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a full-time XR Specialist to work at our client’s offices in Burlingame, CA. This role involves working within the XR team to create experiences and content through apps, live deployments, pre-recorded materials for PR/marketing, and other outreach methods. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of AR, MR, and VR technologies and how they can be used to build narrative and execute creative projects. Experience driving technical projects through their entire lifecycle is essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead in the design and creation of bespoke XR experiences and projects.
• Innovate new XR technologies in alignment with service goals and production work.
• Develop bespoke XR content for experimental and experiential workflows.
• Communicate effectively to explain XR services to both technical and non-technical clients.
• Train and educate internal teams and clients on XR capabilities and creative elements.
• Support the technical lifecycle, managing risks throughout pre-production, execution, and post-event phases.
• Lead the development and deployment of new XR/MR/AR/VR workflows.
• Ideate and execute new XR workflows, including integrated content for traditional and mobile XR projects.
• Provide directorial support for projects as needed.
• Log and track service-specific data.
• Creatively lead long-format XR projects and develop approaches for partner requests.
• Provide pre-production guidance and support for stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
• Project-manage XR service projects based on leadership resourcing.
• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Offer creative guidance (e.g., storyboarding, scripting) to partners.
• Create and maintain ancillary 3D elements/assets for project lifecycles.
• Develop standalone XR content using Unity, Unreal, or Horizon for integration with traditional workflows.
• Serve as a subject-matter expert (SME) in creative XR workflows.
• Attend regular meetings with cross-functional teams.
• Assess and manage content files for event delivery.
• Deliver high-quality service and facilitate partner tours of the space.
• Resolve or escalate issues in a timely manner.
• Communicate difficult or sensitive information tactfully.
• Lead service improvement initiatives and identify new opportunities.
• Innovate XR-related workflows and concepts.
• Provide guidance to improve workflows and service offerings.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in XR production environments.
• 5+ years of experience leading creative projects and project-managing in XR-related environments.
• Strong understanding of how AI tooling augments and accelerates technical and creative workflows.
• Ability to manage stakeholders' creative expectations and deploy technical solutions for complex projects.
• Experience managing projects end-to-end, including creating timelines and milestones.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, including relationship-building and collaboration within diverse, cross-functional teams.

Skills

Recommended

• Knowledge of 3D asset creation: Blender, Cinema 4D, Substance Painter.
• Experience in XR workflows using Unity, Unreal Engine, 8th Wall.
• Knowledge of adapting and creating codebases in XR software and game engine platforms.
• Experience with AR filter deployment and Horizon Worlds (a plus).
• Experience enhancing and developing the skill sets of wider team members.

Advantageous

• UX/UI skills for AR interactions.
• Experience creating 2D/3D animations (Adobe Products).
• Web or internet start-up environments and customer service experience (a plus).
